About

Are You Pushing Yourself to the Breaking Point?

Too many smart, capable leaders find themselves stuck in constant reactivity mode, drowning in meetings, solving everyone else’s problems, and chasing urgent rather than important. It’s not a lack of skill or drive. It’s the absence of clear priorities and sustainable systems that leaves even high performers exhausted, stretched and questioning their impact.

If you're seeing this poor productivity pattern across your leadership team, you're not alone.

Founder of Marrawuy Journeys

Hi, I’m Sarah Richards

I spent more than a decade working across government and consulting, including roles at PwC Indigenous Consulting and the Australian Government Department of Finance. I’ve sat in boardrooms as a board member, worked closely with executives and seen up close how often capable leaders push themselves to the breaking point.

That's why I created Marrawuy Journeys. As a Ngiyampaa woman, consultant and practicing artist, I
bring together evidence-based leadership practice with cultural grounding and creative wellbeing approaches. It’s a holistic and sustainable way of working that supports high performance for the long term.

The Meaning of Marrawuy

Marrawuy (pronounced Mar-ra-way) means red kangaroo in the Ngiyampaa language. The red kangaroo was the totem of my ancestor, Richard King, and was chosen with reverence as our namesake.

The kangaroo, uniquely unable to leap backwards, is a powerful metaphor for resilience and forward momentum. No matter the obstacles, the kangaroo steadfastly moves forward, transforming challenges into stepping stones. This is what I help my clients do, too.
